FOR THE SINGLES ON THE LOOKOUT

Genesis 24:12-14 Then he prayed, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham, give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. SEE, I AM STANDING beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. May it be that when I say to a girl, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’ – let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.

Let me start out with asking you two questions? Who chooses a spouse for you? How can you know for sure that this person whom you have in mind, when you finally meet will be the one set apart for you? Tough questions…one which seem too difficult or complicated for a single answer, you may say. And in a way, I do agree with you. Choosing or looking out for the right marriage partner….a LIFETIME PARTNER for that matter is no easy task…not even for the so-called experts. YET…in spite of the difficulties, one thing is for sure: THE REWARDS OF FINDING THE RIGHT PARTNER will soon overshadow whatever difficulties you encountered along the way.

Of course, unlike Isaac, we have the liberty to go looking out for the marriage partners of our choice and likings. But for the Christian…much has not changed. You see, when Abraham sent his servant to go and get Isaac a wife…he know that the angel of the Lord had gone before him and the rest came out from the servant initiative. When he arrived at the spring…he prayed to God and shortlisted the candidate for Isaac with a sign. Before long…REBEKAH showed up and the rest is history.

Many years back before I met my husband, I too did shortlist the qualities I desired in my future spouse…and when he showed up, I knew he was the one God had handpicked for me. Every single quality I had listed down matched up to him perfectly. And these are the qualities:

Must love the Lord
Should be a worshipper
– Diligent…a finisher

Gentle
Loves children

For my single friends out there…REMEMBER: GOD CHOOSES YOUR SPOUSE and HE leaves it upon you to choose the qualities you desire in your spouse. If you have not complied a list…do so today and see what God will do with it. HE IS WAITING TO READ FROM YOU!

  1. There would be a lot less problems, disillusionments, divorces and so forth if people allowed God to choose their mates instead of thinking that they know better than God. My grandma and grandpa were brought together by God. God spoke to each of them right away and so they both knew they would be married. They had the best relationship until grandpa went on to be with the Lord.

People are even turning to psychics and witchcraft to get mates these days. I couldn’t tell you how many people have said to me “do a ‘love potion.’ It worked for me.” Ah, hello, but why would I be dumb enough to do that? Witchcraft is asking the devil’s demons to step in and force someone to submit to you against their God given free will. Now that’s really stupid. Why do people want someone who really does not want them? What a miserable life that would be.

Most people seem to have no biblical understanding or knowledge of God to know any better about what destruction they are actually bringing into their lives. The devil always lures one in with beauty and sparkles and undelivered promises but in the end is always death and destruction.

    • Hi friend,

The word says…Charm is deceitful and beauty is fleeting…so one cannot lean on them too much. Can they? For the Christian…the ultimate source of all things…even a life mate should be God. Yes, I agree with you….it is important to know what God has promised before you even start out on the journey of love.

Blessings and thank you for your comment.
