THE STOCK MARKET AND YOUR FAITH

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down of strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing EVERY THOUGHT INTO CAPTIVITY to the OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST.

There are two words I have noticed that seem to dominate the Stock Market language: RESPOND and REACT.

React means to act in an opposing or contrary manner; to exert an equal force in the opposite direction to an acting force.

Respond means to react favorably.

Hence, when we hear that the Stock Market reacted, it simply means they made more losses than gains. But on the other hand, when the word respond is used, it means the prices of the shares shot up sharply. The most amazing thing about the Stock Market is, there is no guarantee of tomorrow. What you have today, may not necessary be what you will wake up to the next day. That said, the stock market does not act as an independent body, but rather is heavily influenced by the circumstances from without. In other words, there are no standard rules in the stock market world.

However, faith in God works differently. Unlike the stock market, faith does not Continue reading

MARK YOUR TERRITORY

This morning the Lord just put these three words in my heart, “MARK YOUR TERRITORY.”

Before one starts to build, they sit down and count the cost. Before one sets out on a journey, they gather information about their destination. In both cases, it is needful…if not necessary to get all the information at your disposal in order to start and finish well. But something happens…when THE PROMISE-GIVER comes and tells you to GET READY to cross over to the other side. And this morning the Lord came to tell me to get ready. It is time for me and my family to cross the Jordan. These words came alive today.

Joshua 1:3-5 I will give you EVERY PLACE WHERE YOU SET YOUR FEET, as I promised Moses. YOUR TERRITORY will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates – all the Hittites country – to the Great Sea. No-one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.

I don’t know about you…but I am getting READY TO MARK MY TERRITORY…and that is, FOR LIFE!!!!

THE DREAMER

Genesis 37:19-20 “Here comes that DREAMER!” they said to each other. “Come let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his DREAMS.”

No matter what stage or point we are in life, we all have dreams. Dreams may or may not come true. Dreams may be things which we would love to have or do which are still out of reach. Dreams may also happen in our sleep beyond our human control and ability to choose whether to experience them or not.
But dreams, like many other things are also means in which God can use to convey a message for the unforeseen future.

And so, it was in the case of Joseph. By then, he was just a teenage, loved by his father, Jacob and hated by his brothers. Then one day, he had a dream which he quickly shared with his brothers. When they heard about his dream…they HATED him even the more. Of course, the matter might have ended there, was it not for his second dream. By now, they could not stand him and Jacob, his father rebuked him but kept the matter in mind. You see, Joseph wasn’t the initiator of his dreams in the first place…and in a sense, he wasn’t looking out for interpretation or their accomplishment. In any case, he was still innocence for that. But God had a plan.

Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt and landed at Potiphar’s house. Before long, he was accused of sexual assault and landed into prison. If Joseph wondered what would become of his dreams, we are not told. However, we are told of someone else’s dreams: the cup-bearer and the baker. These two men landed in prison where Joseph was and he, by God’s help interpreted their dreams; one died, and the other…the cup-bearer returned to Pharaoh’s service. Two years later, Pharaoh too had his dreams and Joseph was called out to interpret them. Before he knew it….HIS DREAM was beginning to be accomplished.

Has God given you a dream? Do people look at you and think like Joseph, “Heh, here comes the dreamer!'” Take courage. One thing though is for sure…when God give you a dream…he will also make someone else like you to dream. In order for your dream to be accomplished, God will cause you to run to help someone else accomplish their dreams first. Joseph sowed into the dreams of the cup-bearer and Pharaoh without know that in the real sense, he was sowing into his own dream…and the returns were more than he could have ever dreamed in daylight:a Prime minister, nations saved and above all, reconciliation with his own family.

My friend…if God has given you a DREAM…don’t settle for less nor let obstacles stop you. THERE ARE MANY DREAMERS OUT THERE WAITING ON YOU!

DRESS UP FOR BATTLE.

I Samuel 17:20,40 Early in the morning David left the flock with a shepherd, loaded up and set out, as Jesse had directed him. He reached the camp as the army was going out to its battle positions shouting THE WAR CRY. Then he (David) took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

The battle is on…In the morning you arrive at work as usual after passing through the heavy traffic. The boss meets you at the door and asks you to come into his office. He has some bad news, he says. We are making losses, the budget is tight and we can’t afford to keep you anymore. As you step out of the door, you walk out from what had become a second home for you. The future seems grim…you are too young to retire but too old for anyone to consider re-hiring you. In the afternoon, you pass by the doctor’s to pick up your medical report which is long overdue. To your greatest shock…the results are positive…Yes, you have CANCER.

By the time you get through your driveway, there is only one reality passing through your mind…DEATH and a funeral awaiting your family, friends and acquaintances. Without a word to anyone, you quickly go into the store to fetch out for your Continue reading
