TWO EMOTIONAL WOMEN!!!

For the last 3 days, I have been EMOTIONAL….yes, I am full of GOOD EMOTIONS. And while I do not know how to express them through this computer screen…one thing is for sure. My EMOTIONS at this point in time can only equal the emotions of these TWO VERY EMOTIONAL WOMEN in the bible. So…I will borrow their words…to express my own emotions as well as theirs!

HANNAH…THE BARREN ONE.

She was married to a wonderful husband but couldn’t bear him children. She was constantly mocked and ridiculed by her co-wife. But finally, God heard her prayer and opened her womb. She became the mother of Samuel…one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament.

1 Samuel 2:1-10 Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart REJOICES in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. ‘There is no-one holy like the Lord; there is no-one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. ‘Do not keep talking such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed. ‘The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. Those whose were full hire themselves out for food, but THOSE WHO WERE HUNGRY HUNGER NO MORE. SHE WHO WAS BARREN HAS BORNE SEVEN CHILDREN, but she who has many sons pines away. ‘The Lord brings death and makes alive; he brings to the grave and raises up. ‘The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. HE RAISES THE POOR FROM THE DUST AND LIFTS THE NEEDY FROM THE ASH HEAP; HE SEATS THEM WITH PRINCES AND HAS THEM INHERIT A THRONE OF HONOUR. ‘For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; upon then he has set the world. He will guard the feet of his saints but the wicked will be silenced in darkness. ‘It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be shattered. He will thunder against them for heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth. ‘He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of HIS ANOINTED.”

MARY…THE VIRGIN

She was a virgin, engaged to a fine young man. The wedding bells were just round the corner…but alas, a divine interruption. She was pregnant…but not by her husband. But God came through for her. She became the mother of Jesus…our Lord, Saviour and King forever!

Luke 1:46-55 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit REJOICES in God my Saviour, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me_ holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, for generations to generations. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but HAS LIFTED UP THE HUMBLE. HE HAS FILLED THE HUNGRY WITH GOOD THINGS but has sent the rich empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to ABRAHAM AND HIS DESCENDANTS FOR EVER even as he said to our fathers.”

Today…I pray and sing with Hannah and Mary. TODAY….I will be emotional to the fullest. Today, I will find reason to be the woman God created me to be, to express my God-given emotions in praises, prayer and thanksgiving. To say; ‘Indeed, the Lord is good and His mercies endures forever!’
