Luke 22:14 When the HOUR came, Jesus and his apostles RECLINED AT THE TABLE.
RECLINE is defined as: TO REST in a leaning position.
Tonight, the Christian church all over the world will remember…and some will come to RECLINE AT THE TABLE in remembrance of OUR LORD’S LAST SUPPER with His disciples. But let me paint the picture of Jesus’ Passover meal. First, we have to understand what the PASSOVER MEAL represented before that day.
Deuteronomy 16:3 Do not eat it with BREAD made with YEAST, but for seven days eat unleavened bread, THE BREAD OF AFFLICTION, because you left Egypt in hast_ so that all the days of your life you may REMEMBER the time of your departure from Egypt.
The YEAST represents: pain, slavery, UNREST, hard labor and in essence Egypt…that is human works.
Psalm 127:2 It is VAIN for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the BREAD OF SORROWS; for he gives His beloved sleep.
The UNLEAVENED bread represents: REST, RECLINE, and freedom…in essence…it is Christ’s finished works at the cross.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5 My message and my preaching were not with wise or persuasive words, but with the demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that YOUR FAITH might NOT REST on men’s wisdom but on Gods power.
SEVEN days represents: REST, RECLINE, PAUSE and in essence… THE CROSS.
Hebrews 4:9-4 There remains, then a SABBATH-REST for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his.
Therefore when Jesus gathered his disciples for His LAST PASSOVER MEAL before He went to the cross, the disciples, by RECLINING at the table with Jesus…even though they didn’t understand it then, they were RESTING FROM THEIR OWN WORKS. Because from that point on their Passover meal was never going to be the same again. From that time forward, the PASSOVER represented REST, RECLINE and FRUIT BORNE OUT OF THE SPIRIT. And even for us today, for those who are in Christ, we have entered into His REST. Tonight….RECLINE AT HIS TABLE…because He died on the cross once and for all…so that you might recline and dine with Him when He comes back for His own.
Find REST, PEACE AND JOY at the Lord’s table tonight!
I enjoy everything you write. Keep writing.
Hi Gladwell! What an ontime message! Tonight I had to meet a dear childhood friend at her church because I needed to get an item to her. She explained that they were having a Last Supper Dinner.
They would all eat in silence the kind of food that Jesus and the Disciples would eat and then the pastor would say a short message and they would leave. I thought how wonderful to be able to recline literally at His table. It is funny becauscoe I wondered how I …
could possibly write about it and then I read your article. I love your thought processes. I still do not have a way to approach it…but I will pray about it!
Tomorrow…is Blessed! Have a great Good Friday! Be Blessed…you and your lovely family. Love Lanie

Rani,
Of late, I have known that rest like none other in a long time. Yet, the strangest thing about it all is that this REST has happened in the midst of a very trying time in my life. But…God meant it to be this way. So…I rest and wait patiently for Him!
Blessings to your family and do have yourselves, a great and blessed Good Friday!
Gladwell
thank you Gladwell, I have never understood this in these terms before. It is great to break things down that we may have a better understanding. God Bless

Jim,
Its…more of the Lord than my own doing…just as it is with your writings. Remember…what the Word says. The Spirit will teach and guide us into all truth. I thank God for the Holy Spirit leading in my life and for many brother and sisters in the Lord out there!
Have a great and blessed Good Friday!
